These are fantastic for first time cutting, we got the set with 2 knives, a peeler and scissors. My 3 year old absolutely loves cutting on his own, taking so much pride in preparing his own food, and even the dogs food. They are extremely safe, it looks like he is cutting his fingers, but some hoe the design keeps him safe. Highly recommend.
